Meet Andrew Taylor
I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and grew up in Columbus, Ohio. I earned a BS in Exercise Science Education and an MA in Sports Management from The Ohio State University. From 2010 to 2015, I managed TrySports, a specialty running retail store in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Around 2011, while I was still working in retail, I started teaching myself how to build websites. I began with my own projects because I had ideas I wanted to publish and no development team to build them. A personal running blog grew into Sunrise Running Company. I also built Feaverishly Quilting and other side projects as I learned WordPress, design, content management, and the technical work behind keeping a website running.
I left TrySports in 2015, the year our first son was born. I founded Sunrise Running Company in November of that year and still operate it as a running coach more than 10 years later. It is a working small business with its own customers, content, products, and day-to-day responsibilities. My experience with small business websites started with building and managing one of my own.
After moving to Modesto in June 2016, I joined The Dietz Group in January 2017. I spent more than 8 years there as Vice President of Website Design and Development, overseeing website design and development for new and existing clients. I also managed hosting and maintenance for more than 120 WordPress websites on WP Engine and built the agency’s client onboarding process.
Managing that many websites meant working beyond the initial build. I handled hosting decisions, software updates, maintenance schedules, support requests, troubleshooting, client changes, and the systems needed to keep them all organized. That experience now informs how AJT Digital Designs approaches hosting and long-term website maintenance.
From November 2017 through August 2025, I also worked as a contract website designer for Kudzu Brands. I partnered with its branding team to turn PDF design mockups into working WordPress websites and provided ongoing support for its clients. In 2023, I worked as a website project manager for AuDSEO, managing client onboarding and serving as the connection between clients and the development team.
I founded AJT Digital Designs in Modesto in June 2024, and I have now spent 15 years learning, building, managing, and maintaining websites. Modesto has been home since 2016, and it remains the base for our Modesto website design work. I live here with my wife, Nicole, and our two boys. Outside the agency, I run ultramarathons and trail races, volunteer at the Western States Endurance Run, where I have been an aid station co-captain since 2023, and assist with Central Valley Roadrunners and Modesto Youth Soccer Association.
